Goals and ideas

Goals

A goal is something you are working towards, broken into milestones. For example, "Run a 10k by March".

Creating a goal

  • Go to Profile → Goals and choose New goal, or
  • tell a Spark what you are working towards. It suggests a goal with up to eight milestones and saves it only after you say yes.

A goal can have up to 12 milestones. Only you tick them off, and progress reads like "1 of 3 done".

Plan next steps

On a goal, Plan next steps asks the goal's Spark to work out the next few steps in its Space. You can follow the work in Activity. It needs the goal to be active and linked to a Space, and it uses credits.

Status and check-ins

A goal is Active, Paused, Done or Dropped. If a goal has a check-in date, it shows in the Scheduled hub and under up next in Pulse ("Calynta checks in on it").

In Pulse, each active goal is drawn as a ring that fills as milestones are done.

Ideas

Ideas are suggestions drawn from what your Sparks already know about you.

  • An idea can appear on the Chats tab as An idea for you, with Accept, See why, and a way to dismiss it.
  • Profile → Ideas shows your ideas, with a Find ideas button.
  • Each idea shows where it came from: Memory, Goal or App.

Ideas only come from your own account: recent memory from your Spaces, goals you have not touched in a while, and recent events from connected apps. An idea that cannot point to one of those is thrown away.

Accepting an idea

Accepting an idea (or Accept and plan after editing it) turns it into a goal and starts Plan next steps. Accepted ideas move to Started.

Limits

  • At most 3 new ideas at a time, and an idea you have seen is never repeated.
  • Calynta looks for ideas by itself at most every 12 hours, and only for people who have used the app in the last week.
  • Find ideas can be tapped once a minute.
  • If there is nothing useful: "Nothing new worth suggesting yet."
Needs a subscription

Accepting an idea and planning a goal need an active subscription, because both start real work.
