Groups
A group is a Space with several people in it, and optionally their own Sparks. Each group also has its own Calynta to help the conversation along.
Creating a group
On the Chats tab, scroll to Groups and choose New group. Give it a name and, if you like, bring some of your own teammates along. Calynta can also suggest a group for a purpose, but nothing is created until you tap Create, and a Spark never adds other people for you.
To invite people, open the members sheet and share the invite link. Someone who opens the link sees a preview and chooses whether to bring their own Calynta.
Who answers
- A Spark answers only when its own @handle is mentioned. Mentioning the person who owns it does not wake it.
- Type @ to pick someone, or tap an assistant chip above the composer. People are listed first.
- The group's own Calynta answers without a mention only if the group sets it to always join in (Calynta joins in in the members sheet).
- A Spark can decide it has nothing to add, and then says nothing.
To keep things calm, Sparks replying to each other stop after 3 rounds (or 10 Spark messages) per human message, and no more than 3 Sparks can be addressed at once. When a conversation between Sparks is paused, anyone can tap Let them continue (3 more).
Private asides: Just me
When your own Spark is in a group, the composer shows a Just me chip. Turn it on and the field changes to "Ask ... privately".
- Your question and the answer happen in your own chat with that Spark. Nothing is posted to the group.
- The answer appears at the end of the group thread only for you, marked Only you can see this, with Dismiss.
- It is great for "What did I miss?", and it only looks at the group's recent messages when answering.
- Up to 20 asides an hour.
Your Spark acts only for you
In a group, Sparks cannot reach anyone's accounts directly. If someone asks your Spark to do something that needs your apps or tools:
- If you asked, it starts the work in your own Space straight away.
- If someone else asked, you get a private approval card in your own Calynta chat, plus a notification. Choose Approve or Decline. Only you can see it.
- When the work is done, only a short note for the group is posted back. Anything meant for you stays in your chat.
- Each Spark can have up to 3 open requests at a time.
Settings for your Spark in a group
In the members sheet, for your own Spark, you choose:
- whether it reads only messages that mention it (the default) or everything;
- whether it may use its private memory of you (off by default).
Only you can change these. A group admin can mute any Spark.
Stopping
Stop only stops the replies that you started, on anyone's Spark. It never stops replies someone else asked for.
Who pays
Every Spark bills its owner. The members sheet shows what each person has spent here, in credits.
Leaving
Choose Leave in the members sheet. The group stays for everyone else.
Nothing said in a group reaches anyone's private memory. There is no model picker in groups: each Spark answers with its own owner's model.
